-Equipment Link:
-Setting Up:
-
Place 2 pylons 10 paces apart and a batting line 20 paces from the pylons.
-
The first fielder (F1) cannot go behind the pylons.
-
The second fielder (F2) cannot go in front of the pylons.
-Instructions:
-
Batter 1 (B1) tosses the ball to himself and hits the ball between the pylons.
-
The batter is out if he:
-
Hits a ball that is caught by one of the fielders before the ball contacts the ground.
-
Hits a foul ball (outside the imaginary line from home base over the 2 pylons.
-
Swings at a tossed ball and misses.
-
-
When a batter is out his partner goes up to bat.
-
When they are both out an inning is over and the fielders and batters switch sides.
-
If a ball is hit along the ground and caught by F1 that counts as a strike (3 consecutive strikes also counts as 1 out).
-
If a ball is hit past the pylons along the ground, that counts as a single (keep track of players in your head).
-
If a ball lands past the pylons and is caught off the bounce by F2 that counts as a double.
-
If a ball lands past the pylons and rolls past F2 that counts as a triple.
-
If a ball lands past F2 that counts as a home run.
-
Players can only be advanced by being forced to the next base. For example, if there is a player on first and that is followed by a double the runners are on second and third. If that is followed by a single then players are on first, second, and third. If that is followed by a double, players are on second and third and 2 runs scored.
-Questions & Notes:
-
Instructional tips:
-
If it is too easy to score runs then make the space between the pylons smaller and move them further away from home base.
-
If it is too difficult to score runs them make the space between the pylons larger and move them closer to home base.
