-Setting Up:
-
Assign boundaries that are at least five square paces per player. In other words half a volleyball court is approximately nine paces by nine paces or 81 square paces, enough room for about 16 players.
-
Players are scattered in the playing area, each sitting on their own ball.
-
The leader assigns one player to be the It.
-Instructions:
-
On the leader’s signal to begin the players use a “Forward Roll” to move inside the playing area in an effort to avoid being tagged by the It.
-
Forward Roll: Sit on the ball. Roll forwards to till you almost fall of the front off the ball. Squat up and pull the ball under your but again to a sitting position. Roll forwards again and repeat as you move around the playing surface.
-
The It tries to tag players.
-
When the It tags a player, then there are two Its.
-
If a player goes out of bounds that player also becomes an It.
-
Continue playing till the last player is tagged. That player is the winner and becomes the It for the next game.
-Questions & Notes:
-
It is too difficult to make a speed catch, the It will need to try and corner players and then tag them.
-
Players may not move backwards on the balls or they will fall backwards and hit the back of their head on the floor.
-
An excellent game for upper legs and shoulders.
