Circle Relay

-Objective:

To be the first team to have everyone circle the team twice

-Fundamental Movement Skills:

  • Locomotor

    • Run​

  • Manipulative Retain​

    • Dribble​

-Equipment List:

  • One stability ball per team of four to six players

-Setting Up:

  • Each team stands in a tight circle with a stability ball in the middle.

  • Number players in each team consecutively one, two, three, and so on, in a counterclockwise direction.

-Instructions:

  • On your signal to begin, the first player from each team pulls the ball out of the middle of the circle and rolls it on the floor around the circle in a counterclockwise direction. When the first player has completed the circle, the number two player takes the ball and rolls it around the circle.

  • Each player takes a turn to complete a circle.

  • When the last player of the team has completed the circle, the team members pick the ball up together and hold it above their heads, repeatedly singing, “We are the champions!”

-Questions & Notes:

  • Encourage the other team members to jump up and down and encourage the player going around the circle.

  • Soccer Circle Relay: Played the same as Circle Relay except that players use their feet and legs to move the ball around the circle.

  • Bounce Circle Relay: Played the same as Circle Relay except that players bounce the ball as they move it around the circle.
